Job Description

Our client, a leading Telecommunications provider for high speed broadband services, is seeking a Project Manager for its  Outside Plant Construction team located in the Mid-Hudson Valley region.  The position requires daily presence in the region and is NOT a 100% WFH role.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of Project Management to support the construction of regional outside plant facilities.  Strong background in fiber and copper construction, facilities planning and network operations in essential.  The role requires 5-7 years with a Telecoms Service Provider.  End-User systems or infrastructure or SDLC experience is NOT applicable.

The OSP Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination of installation and equipment vendors, by managing and scheduling Outside Plant, Inside Plant, HVAC, AC/DC Power  upgrades and customer builds.

Team building, training skills and technical telecommunications and power systems knowledge are essential. Scheduling of plant program maintenance, customer installations, obtaining and reviewing vendor contracts and forecasting facility space and power growth are required.

Duties
Assist in the 
Build out critical AC/DC and Emergency power plant to guarantee facility uptime, for multiple facilities.

Oversee package logistics with other Project Management team members, as well as work closely with Engineering and Construction departments.  Coordinate with third-party engineering, professional services and constructions/electrical  contractors

Interface and direct HVAC, Emergency back-up and Power vendors.

Provide design and walk-through required in obtaining vendor proposals for Plant construction projects, such as UPS installs and upgrades, site survey and due diligence.

Negotiate leasehold improvement with landlords and property management firms.

Work with vendors, consultants, internal resources and contractors to ensure quality, on-time and on-budget delivery of construction projects.

Forecast growing customer space and power needs and provide and implement appropriate measures.

Project Manage the build-out of additional facility space. Asbestos, Landmark Preservation, Acoustical requirements, DOB permits and Building management approvals are all part of the planning phases.

Design and Project Manage Power upgrades with respect to the build-out of additional facility space.

Education, Experience and Skills requirements

B.A./B.S. preferred, equivalent experience in OSP Project Management, Construction, Design or Engineering strongly considered

Minimum 5-7 years direct Telecommunications Service provider experience

Minimum of 6 years of project management or construction management, with a strong preference for those with experience in the collocation, data center, carrier hotel or other sector of the Network Services Provider (Telco, MSO, LEC, CLEC, Carrier) market, or possibly from a Electrical/Gas utility firm.

Must be detail oriented with excellent communications, interpersonal and oral/written presentation skills. Must be able to manage staff and lead projects/teams independently.

Proven organizational ability and attention to detail a must.  Strong analytical skills. 

Strong user of Project management tools and platforms, as well as familiarity with Project Management Best Practices.   

PMP Certification preferred.
