Job Description

Our client, a leading broadband network service provider, is hiring a Manager of  Network Security to lead a team in the design, planning and hardening of Transport, Core IP and Access Networks, serving  a greenfield market expansion in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley region.

Please note this is a hybrid position at the client’s New York Mid-Hudson Valley regional office, and is NOT a 100% WFH role..

Please note there is no relocation or work permit/ VISA support offered.

Candidates must be US Citizen or Green Card holder to be considered for the role.

This role will be have management responsibilities on the Security team, which  is composed of Security Engineers and Security Operations Specialists, who will design, implement and deliver security services for the firm's transport, core IP and access networks.

This is a full-time, direct-hire roles, not contract positions.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Security Engineering team building the technology, teams and policies to secure the various networks with the firm ( access, CPE, core, and edge networks) to achieve secure status and mitigate and respond to vulnerabilities rapidly.

Set technology, service and policy direction, recruit security talent to achieve 5 Nines (99.999%) Uptime target.  Monitor, measure and respond to incident and vulnerability reports.  Solve outages and utilize threat mitigation tools.

Education, Experience, Skills and Training Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree preferred with strong preference for Computer Science focus, or equivalent experience.
Industry certifications in Network or Security technology (such as CISSP, GEAC, QSA, ISA, CTGA) helpful but not required.

Team player:  MUST collaborate well with internal teams and external partners and stakeholders: internal management, external trusted partners, community, and regulators

Functional Experience required: 12-15+ years as a Security Manager, Lead Network Security Engineer, Network Architect or similar role  with a Service Provider (telco, carrier, MSP) or large enterprise.   

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to a service providers network.  
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with network access control (NAC) technologies and methods.
  • Working knowledge and experience with various IEEE networking standards and routing protocols
  • Must have a strong focus on network quality, resilience and availability 
  • Experience should include direct hands-on tenure: Develop and implement security policies, standards, guidelines, and generally accepted industry practices which ensure compliance.
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including Nextgen firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
  • Excellent knowledge in Network security products such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Cisco ASA, Arbor Networks DDOS mitigation, web proxies, UTM, anti-virus, anti-malware devices and similar offerings.
  • Experience in network security products such as: firewalls, VPN, SSL, network access control (NAC), intrusion detection or intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS), web proxies, UTM, anti-virus, secure email, and anti-malware devices.
  • Familiar with emerging technologies and market conditions: SD-WAN/SASE, DDOS, Cybersecurity.
