Our client is a leading broadband provider that is currently moving into various Tier 3 and Rural service markets, and will compete with various incumbent telcos, cable MSOs and wireless provider in the fiber and wireless broadband markets, for consumer and commercial customers.
They are currently building their Network Operations Center team, and are interviewing now for Network Operations Technician – Access Networks
These Network Operations Technicians are primarily focused on the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of the company’s Broadband Access Network and Transport Network elements.
These roles are based in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley region, and there is a strong preference for candidates from the region. These are NOT 100% virtual/ WFH roles. The company is not able to provide work visa or relocation support to candidates.
Responsibilities
Work with Field Operations Installations teams on consistent on-time, quality implementation of network connections, customer deployments, customer premise equipment (CPE) and customer network facilities.
Install, configure, customize and upgrade network equipment within the guidelines set by the Network Engineering management team.
Work with internal and external technical teams to ensure Engineering designs are field-ready: work on configuration, logistics issues (supply chain bottlenecks) and scheduling.
Experience, Education and Skills requirements
4-6+ years in the installation, testing, turn-up and troubleshooting of network access and transport network services and equipment preferably in a NOC, Field Service/Field Operations Technician, Field Engineer, or Network Operations Engineer in a Telecom service provider environment or large enterprise environment.
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required.
Equivalent Direct Hands-On Experience in Network Operations Center strongly suggested.
2-3 years of direct experience with IP networks: operations, design, engineering and implementation.
Direct knowledge of some (NOT ALL!) of the Technology Domains
Collaborate with internal and external teams, including access platform & equipment vendors particularly GPON vendors such as Adtran and others.
Must have knowledge of Optical Networking including DWDM, PON, GPON and other passive optical network technologies.
Experience with provisioning, implementation and configuration of FTTH/FTTX technologies strongly preferred
Voice Networks VoIP, SIP Trunking, Soft Switches, Session Border Controllers.
