GIS Manager/Analyst
Scope of Role
Our client, a provider of Network Services, is seeking a GIS Manager/Analyst to create and lead a GIS team within its Growth Market unit. This role will be in based in the Mid-Hudson Valley in New York State. Regular in-office presence, local and regional travel to client and network sites is required.

This position will work closely with the OSP Engineering Manager and Facilities Engineering Team, as well as the firm’s management team with regard to network growth & development planning.
This person will be responsible for the information gathering, analysis, and presentation for discovering industry patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools.
This role will be primarily responsible for GIS and financial analysis support related to the broadband subsidy program as needed.
This position requires a high level of detail and strong familiarity with GIS tools (such as QGIS and ArcGIS).
The GIS Manager/Analyst will need to explain geographic trends and findings from their analyses to internal and external clients, requiring excellent written and verbal communication.
Duties/Responsibilities
Serves as the subject matter expert on GIS projects and solution definition for various projects taking place within the market expansion department
Work with non-GIS leaders and teams to effectively explain the meaning behind maps, overlaps of territories, and publicly available information through the FCC or other sources
Identifies, evaluates, recommends and implements new GIS technologies or solutions as required
Creating mapping applications and tools with ESRI Software.
Publish and maintain ArcGIS Server services for use of the entire enterprise
Analyzing spatial and tabular data through the use of mapping software.
Discovering patterns and trends through geospatial analysis and mapping of data.
Designing digital and print maps with geographic data and other external data sources.
Performing data mining and cleaning to convert data into its desired form.
Produce written and graphical reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
Assisting with the maintenance of a digital library of geographic data in various file types.
Organize and complete large spatial analyses supporting market expansion programs
Experience, Education and Skills Requirements
3-5+ years of experience in a GIS focused role, preferably with Telecommunications, Cable MSOs, Real Estate, Financial Services, Land Use.
Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, geography, surveying, engineering, or related field is preferred.
Experience with mapping tools such as ArcGIS ArcMap and Pro (Enterprise a plus
Experience with GIS software solutions and applications such as QGIS and ArcGIS is a plus
Experience or understanding of front-end design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various mapping and database languages.
Excellent analytical aptitude with a strong attention to detail
Experience in buildings maps and modeling information in GIS systems is preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint required
Ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of raw data
