Director, Events & Meetings, Manhattan

Our client, a leading provider of Audio Visual services for meetings and streaming events is seeking a Director, Events & Meetings to manage several of its high-visibility locations.

This role will involve all aspects of running multiple high-end meeting venues in Manhattan, interacting with all departments and stakeholders, including clients, meeting planners, catering, third-party consultants,  AVL equipment rental vendors and event staffing services. 

This is NOT a remote role, and on-site presence is required for success in this position.  No relocation or work visa assistance is offered.

This position will be responsible for delivering high-quality results for customer events and meetings, including:

Areas of Responsibility:

  • P&L: Manage budget, expenses/ payroll, inventory, rentals, sales.
  • Building and Managing a World Class team. 
  • Planning: technology, manpower, production.
  • Account Management:  Ensure customer satisfaction,
  • Sales: maximize opportunity for the provider and the venue, generate new and follow-on business.   Retain customers and grow revenue base.
  • Reporting:  Manage generation and distribution of reports to clients, partner, department heads and management

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements:

Previous experience running an event venue is mandatory, including all aspects of technical/production/operations as well as sales, customer satisfaction and profitability.

4-6+ years in managing AV Services teams for meeting venue, hotel, resort, casino, convention or similar hospitality business.

4-6+ years in AV sales experience. Live events, rentals, services or other AV-related sales experience preferred.   Grow new revenue streams.   Maintain and grow customer relationships, as well as collaborate with 3rd parties (such as event planners) to generate new business.

AV Technical knowledge:  technical depth in the following:  Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging.

Strong communications, organizational and computer productivity skills.

Strong drive for success, ethical, reliable, bias for action, high-performance and low-maintenance.

Compensation:  DOE, with incentive/bonus plan based on team and P&L goals
