Senior Manager, Carrier Relations - NJ

Our client, a leading provider of Telecommunications Network Services is seeking a Senior Manager, Carrier Relations for its Northeast regional office, based in Northern New Jersey

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager Carrier Relations will negotiate on behalf on our client for wholesale and enhanced carrier services, managing costs and building Service Level Agreements (SLAs) which will allow them to deliver strong service to Enterprise, Government and Service Provider customers.  Position requires daily in-office presence in Northern NJ

Duties

Manage the continuing relationships, contract and operational issues that the firm buying from wholesale off-net carriers.

Negotiation of pricing matters, contract and tariff interpretation.

Managing and optimizing business process and costs/delivery issues that impact the delivery of purchased services.

Manage relationships between the firm and off-net vendors pertaining to all matters concerning off-net access, special access agreements and tariff matters in a positive way.

Negotiate price and contract language to support large term and volume agreements, SD-WAN, MPLS, DWDM, Interconnection, Colocation, Ethernet and other elements purchased in the “buy” relationship.

Act as the single point of contact for escalations on business issues related to off-net vendors, and, support operational and billing escalations when engaged by those departments.

Provide contract and tariff interpretation to internal stakeholders, including the analysis on the benefits and risks associated with making a particular decision.

Proactively identify and manage risks, costs and issues affecting the “buy” relationship between the firm and the off-net vendors.

Conduct Quarterly Service Reviews against SLAs.

Work with Product Management to develop, refine and rollout new service offerings.

Develop and optimize new carrier implementation process.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Telecommunications or equivalent. Master’s degree or project management certification desired.

Understanding the relationship between a carrier and its off-net access vendors on the 'buy' side is required.

5-7+ years’ experience working at a competitive or incumbent telecommunications provider. (CLEC, ISP, Wireless, etc.)

Minimum 3 years working in a role managing the “buy” relationships between telecommunications providers.

Must have knowledge of telecommunications tariffs, regulations, inter-carrier access agreements and pricing and billing elements of access services.

Demonstrated success in negotiating agreements from a “buy” perspective.

Must be able to work under intense deadlines, multi-task, have good organization and communication skills.

Basic skills in using Microsoft Excel and Power Point is required.
