Network Engineer - Midtown
Scope of Position
This is a direct-hire, full-time employment position at our client for candidates with 3-5 years networking experience.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for providing testing, troubleshooting and network support for a IP, MPLS, Ethernet and VoIP network. This position will be located in the 7x24 Network Operations Center (NOC) and will be responsible for performing network surveillance of VoIP, IP Routing and carrier Ethernet services.
The Network Operations Specialist will handle technical support for customers for all network related issues. This role includes some planning, design and implementation of networks for carrier customers.
The position will be also responsible for working with the NOC team in the resolution of trouble tickets and performance of diagnostics to resolve network issues. Utilizing the network operational support systems, and other network test equipment, the Network Engineer will test, diagnose, locate faults, and resolve network issues directly and or coordinate with higher tier technical support for resolution. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the dispatch of outside vendors for on-site support and the physical repair of network equipment.
In addition to network maintenance and repair, the Network Engineer will also perform network provisioning and customer change management. The position requires strong knowledge of IP, VoIP and Ethernet networking equipment.
Monitor and provide support for all WAN and LAN issues, including IP Routing, VoIP and Ethernet equipment and related transport, where applicable.
Configure and install various network devices, services and servers
Open and track trouble tickets and provisioning requests to resolution.
Ability to perform logical provisioning of circuits and manage customer requested changes in a timely and efficient manner.
Perform routine maintenance on routing and switching equipment
Perform initial problem analysis and triage to escalate tickets to the appropriate groups when necessary.
Serve as liaison with service provider customers to coordinate problems until resolution is reached.
Interface with other departments and work groups on a daily basis including Engineering, IT, and vendor support.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime and on-call rotation, as required.
Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
Bachelor's degree helpful
3-5+ years working in a network operations work environment.
Telco network operations knowledge helpful
Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems.
Industry vendor and technology certifications (such as CCNA) helpful.
Knowledge of network equipment essential: cisco, juniper, products including switches, routers, firewalls and VPNs.
Solid understanding of OSI layer networking model.
Ability to use Network test equipment and other diagnostic tools.
Participate in flexible work schedule 24X7, and standby rotation.
