Our client, a leading vendor of Information Security Technology, is seeking a Manager Sales Engineering - Western Region. Candidates should be based in Northern California (SF Bay area) OR Los Angeles/ Orange County/ San Diego corridor. Exceptional candidates who are not in Northern and Southern California will be considered. Virtual office, 35-45% Travel
Scope of Role
The Manager Sales Engineering is responsible for supporting the territorial sales force for all their pre-sales requirements.
Work with Regional Sales teams and management to meet pre-sales objectives through strong preparation for sales presentations and product demonstrations, as well be responsible for making certain that forecast objectives are met.
Recruit, train, retain, motivate and evaluate a team of 6-8 Pre-Sales Engineers in remote locations throughout the Western US sales territory.
Develop territorial Sales Engineering experts to align with product lines defined by corporate marketing
Train, mentor and coach the Pre-Sales Engineers to accomplish their job criteria, including but not limited to in-house company technical and professional training, as well as personal development.
Function as player-coach for larger sales opportunities and partner relationships, expediting any issues and breaking all process bottlenecks.
Attend sales visits to ensure pre-sales team member proficiency
Work with Direct, Channels, Government sales to ensure their pre-sales needs are met.
Education, Experience and Skills requirements
Management Background in a successful, high profile firm.
A BS in computer science, engineering, a related discipline or equivalent experience is preferred
Approximately 5+ years previous Pre-Sales Engineering Management or other Management experience for a IT Vendor or Service Provider is requried
Excellent technical skills in a variety of domains (Cloud, Security, Virtualization, Data Center, DDOS) and experience in the design, integration and testing of complex large scale network projects are a must.
Must be a high-performance, low-maintenance individual with strong curiosity, initiative and a bias for action. Highly-productive on individual tasks and projects, and performs well on projects in a distributed team setting.
Ambitious, hard-working, goal oriented, team player and enthusiastic.
Strong presentation skills required
Travel requirements up to 35%, mainly to trade shows, customer and reseller sites.
