Our client is a leading Managed Services Provider that is undergoing rapid growth AND rapid change, adapting to demanding clients, cutting-edge technologies and new service offerings. They are a current hiring an experienced and motivated Network Engineer for their downtown Manhattan location.
This role will build, troubleshoot, manage and optimize the firm' s cisco-based network in order to respond to these new challenges that are disrupting the Telecoms Service provider market. Our client is introducing new services such as UCaaS, Managed Security Services, MDM platforms, Colocation and shared-premise Data Center services, all of which put greater demands on their WAN and IP Backbone networks.
In addition to design, optimization, architecture and traffic-related duties, the Network Engineer will be responsible for providing service activation, troubleshooting and network support.
The Lead Network Engineer will test, diagnose, locate faults, and resolve network issues directly and or coordinate with higher tier technical support for resolution. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the dispatch of outside vendors for on-site support and the physical repair of network equipment.
This position is located in Downtown Manhattan. Strong preference for full-time, direct-hire candidates, but contractors should apply as well.
Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
8-10+ years working in a network engineering and network operations work environment, preferably in service provider (telco/carrier). Enterprise experience welcome!
Industry vendor and technology certifications such as CCIE strongly preferred.
Strong cisco IOS Routing and Switching skills, with direct hands-on experience with EIGRP, QOS, MPLS, OSPF, RIPv2, VRF, STP and BGP.
Knowledge of WAN technologies, such as MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, VPLS.
Knowledge of Voice technologies such as VoIP, SIP Trunking, UCaaS, IP PBX Configuration of layer 2/layer 3 switching & routing networks,
Knowledge of and experience in Voice over IP (VoIP) protocols.
Ability to use Network (IP, VoIP, Ethernet) test equipment and other diagnostic tools.
